TFF reviews the Cortland – Competition Series – Medium Intermediate Fly Line.
New from Cortland are the Competition Series of fly lines for those anglers who like a range of lines to cover all the depths. The range is aimed at the competition angler however these lines would help increase the catch rate for those pleasure anglers out there. The Medium Intermediate line is olive in colour with two orange hang markers at 14 and 24ft. It has a sink rate of 1.5 – 2 inches per second. It has welded loops at either end to make leader and backing connections easier. This 110ft line has a 12ft front taper, 20ft body, 12ft rear taper-to give a 44ft head length and 66ft of running line. It casts and shoots very well which is to be expected with the line taper and ‘Shooting Technology’ coating. It doesn’t take long to load the rod and the running line soon moves through the rod rings. In the water it holds its depth well and has no memory. This is a great line for searching the upper layers and I’m looking forward to trying the other lines in this range. Available from Turrall stockists.
Available in WF 5/6, 6/7 and 7/8.
